Most online PDF tools upload your documents to a server, convert them there and keep a copy for a while. This site does the opposite. The page you are reading contains the whole converter. Your images are read by your browser, drawn onto PDF pages and encrypted on your own processor. The only file that is ever written is the PDF you choose to save.

How the protection works
A password-protected PDF is not just hidden behind a prompt – its contents are encrypted. When you set a password here, your browser derives a 256-bit AES key from it using the algorithm defined in the PDF specification (ISO 32000, AESV3 with SHA-256 based key derivation). Every page image is encrypted with that key before the file is written. Without the password the file is unreadable noise.
Two passwords exist in a PDF. The user password is what the reader has to enter to open the document. The owner password controls permissions such as printing or copying. PDF Protection sets your chosen password as the user password and generates a random, strong owner password so that permission flags cannot simply be switched off.
Because encryption happens on your device, the strength of the result depends on your password. Nine characters is the minimum; a passphrase of several words or twelve or more mixed characters is recommended for documents that matter.

Is it really free?
Yes. There is no paid tier, no watermark and no limit on the number of PDFs you create. The site is funded by nothing more than a small server bill.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The converter runs entirely inside your browser. The server only delivers the page; it has no endpoint that accepts files. You can verify this in your browser's network tools or by switching off your connection after the page has loaded.
Which image formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG and WebP. iPhone HEIC photos should be exported or shared as JPEG first – most phones do this automatically when you share a photo.
How strong is the encryption?
The PDF is encrypted with AES-256, the strongest level defined by the PDF standard and the same algorithm used for classified information. The practical strength depends on your password, so choose a long one.
What happens if I forget the password?
The document cannot be recovered – not by you, not by us. There is no back door. Store the password in a password manager.
Can I open the PDF on any device?
Yes. AES-256 protected PDFs open in Adobe Acrobat Reader, Apple Preview and Books, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and the built-in viewers on iOS and Android after entering the password.
Is there a limit on file size or pages?
Up to 30 images of 20 MB each (100 MB in total) per PDF. Large images are scaled to a maximum edge of 3200 pixels, which keeps documents sharp and file sizes reasonable.
Can I convert a PDF to images, or merge existing PDFs?
Not here – this tool does one thing well: images to a protected PDF. Keeping the scope small is what lets it run completely offline in your browser.
Does the site use cookies or tracking?
No cookies. The site counts visits with an anonymous, cookieless page counter that stores no personal data and cannot identify you. Your images and passwords are never part of it.
Privacy
Documents: your images, file names and PDF passwords are processed only by your browser and are never transmitted. The server has no upload endpoint and the page's Content Security Policy blocks all outgoing connections except a single anonymous page-view beacon.
Analytics: to understand how many people use the site we count page views without cookies. The beacon contains the page language, the referring site, screen size and browser type. Your IP address is used only to derive an approximate location (country and city) and a daily-changing anonymous hash, and is not stored.
Storage: nothing is written to your device except the PDF you choose to save. No local storage, no cookies, no service workers.
Third parties: no advertising networks, no external fonts, no third-party scripts. All code is served from this domain.
